According to The Charleston Gazette, the casting director for the upcoming film Shelter was fired after the the West Virginia Film Office, on behalf of Governor Manchin, contacted the producers on Tuesday night about a casting call for West Virginian extras. The producers say the film does not take place in WV.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that a casting call for a film Shelter featuring Julianne Moore is asking for extras with “that ‘inbred’ look” to play West Virginians:
“Extraordinarily tall or short. Unusual body shapes, even physical abnormalities as long as there is normal mobility. Unusual facial features, especially eyes.”
