Elkins Cat License

To help with the feral cat problem, WBOY reports that Elkins has put an ordinance in place requiring owners to license their cats. Owners pay a fee ($5 if your pet is fixed, $25 if not) and they get a license they must put up in their window, listing their cats and the cats’ markings.

“It’s important because these feral cats just keep populating and they can be not only a nuisance, but a health hazard,” says Mayor Guye.

Mayor Guye says the ordinance also requires cat breeders to license their kittens within twelve weeks of being born.

The cat ordinance goes into effect today.

  1. Good for Elkins!

I am so sick of my neighbors cat breeding farm across the road. They are distroying our azaleas, getting into our garbage and killing birds around our feeders. People who can’t keep their pets home need to be fined.
