Showing Your Behind Could Get You Time
In Florida, one fashion is really becoming a crime. Riviera Beach has made it illegal to wear drooping pants with fines starting at $150 and up to 60 days in jail. According to the Palm Beach Post, the city passed their “saggy pants law” on March 11 and Mayor Thomas Masters simply wants offenders to keep their drawers at a decent level.
Under the new law, anyone with droopy pants that show skin or underwear faces legal action. The first offense carries a $150 fine or community service. A second infraction carries a $300 fine or more community service.
Habitual violators could face up to 60 days in jail. The jail provision produced a last-minute backlash to the ordinance. But the law was popular among elderly voters who apparently turned out at the polls.
“It’s not our intent to get rich off of fines or lock people up in jail,” said an elated Masters. “It’s about a simple message: pull up your pants.”
Following the trend, the Florida Senate passed a bill on March 13 that could mean suspensions for public school students with droopy britches. However, it won’t become law unless the House of Representatives passes a companion measure.

That’s an interesting new law. What do plumbers think about this, or are they exempt? Do people really need a law to pull up their pants?
I think this is great, This teaching those younger people that have wearing this sort of pants to grow up. I don’t know who started this and why they like it, it’s not appealing whatsoever…people don’t want to see your underwear (Definitely not me!). LOL.
Of course, since it’s Florida, thongs on the beach are still okay, right?
