8 Years Experience!
One of the lesser known coaching applicants to the WVU football program was Joshua Irizarry, a 12 year old boy from Southington, CT, according to the Associated Press. He’s been a Mountaineer fan since he started watching football at age 4, and when he saw there was an opening he asked his mom if he could apply.
Insisting it was a “completely serious offer,” the Connecticut boy outlined his skills in a letter to West Virginia president Mike Garrison when the job opened in December. They included “making up new plays to fool defenses in local sandlot games.”
Though he didn’t get the job, he did get a personal letter back from President Garrison, as well as an autographed picture of Noel Devine, his favorite Mountaineer. Joshua now hopes to one day attend WVU as a student, but he’s also asked President Garrison to keep his letter on file. Just in case.
